Back Story

I’ll be the first to admit, when the Reebok zigwild shoes came out I was not a big fan of them. I hadn’t even tried out the shoes but, I just couldn’t stand how they looked. I used to work at a gas station & the shoes I was wearing at the time used to hurt my ankles. Also, the shoes were not that good for standing for long hours, my feet used to hurt everyday after my shift. One day, I was talking to my uncle, who is a nurse, about this issue & he recommended I try the reebok zigwild. After getting my first pair, I have never looked back.

Men’s ZigWild TR 5.0, Product Overview

The Men’s ZigWild TR 5.0 is the latest in a long line of zigwild shoes I have owned. The shoe has zigtech technology which provides responsive cushioning. The grooves on the shoes add flexibility & the sock liner is made with stablefit technology which adds to the flexibility of the shoe. The mesh material gives comfort, while the EVA (ethyl vinyl acetate) midsole give support that allows a user to run or walk for a long time.

Pros & Cons

Pros

Very Comfortable; whether its running, walking at work or just going for a walk, these are the perfect shoes.

People with wide feet like me will enjoy this shoe. They stretch to fit you & there is no discomfort experienced when you first put the shoes on. For others, they fit perfectly.

Even though the shoes are mostly used for running, they can be used for hiking too.

They are light weight & breathable.

They are good value for money.

Cons

They are not good for winter weather; your feet get too cold due to the mesh type material.

Conclusion, The Best Shoes

I have been very happy with my pair of zigwild shoes. The shoes are light & allow your feet to breathe, people with wide feet are will not have a problem with the shoe, they stretch to fit you. They are very comfortable for running or walking. The only downside to this shoe is, using it during winter can be uncomfortable due to your feet getting cold. I go fishing and walking and I always get sore feet – I like shoes that when you buy them, they feel instantly like you have owned them for years and feel comfortable so thanks for this great review as you mentioned, they work to fit and feel great so I’m off to shop

Hey Ray, awesome article. I wish I had’ve seen your article last week when I was working my second job lol. I kid but seriously, I like your article. Do you own any pairs of the shoes you’re advertising, how comfortable are they? So, they’re not an all season shoe, that’s fine but they’re still awesome as they are. Awesome article!

I own the pair I wrote a review for & they have been comfortable for me. I don’t own the pairs am advertising but I put them there for people to see the different ones they have if they did not like the one I wrote a review for. But, I am confident in the shoes am advertising & their level of comfort from talking to friends. There are women’s shoes in the AD, be sure to get the right ones, lol.

Thanks Ray, I’m a runner so always happy to read about new running shoes and running shoe innovations.
So the fact you rated this one as 9.7/10 and it’s pretty reasonably priced, had me intrigued.
I’ve used Brooks for years, Hoka One One in the last few years, but never Reebok.  Sure for trainers they have been great, so I want to learn about Reebok’s revolutionary “zigtech” technology.  That zig-zag look is certainly unique.

That’s great they also come in walkers, I love black walking shoes.  In the past I’ve got shin splints if I ever have to run for the bus or train in traditional black leather dress shoes for office wear.  So I’d be happy to try them for running or walking.  I’ve bookmarked your site for when I next need runners or walkers.  Thanks so much, John

I liked how you did your review and the pro’s & con’s. You have great information on here.
The gray lettering on the black background is a bit hard to read though.

Hi, Ray and thanks for this review.  Makes me wish I was still a runner.

I’ve seen others wearing these shoes but haven’t tried a pair myself.  that said, I will be checking out some new ones at our local sports store soon.  I have put about 500 K on the pair I’m wearing at the moment in preparation for an upcoming hike.  A couple of hundred more and it will be time for a new pair.  I’ll have to see it this shoe is available.

You say they are good for walking and your feet are comfortable in them.  Would they be good for loooong walks?  As I said, I do a lot of walking, sometimes up to 13 K at a time walking up and down hills in my neighbourhood, on concrete.  So, I’m wondering how they would help my feet hold up over that type of distance wearing these shoes.

I like to hike as well and have had some experience with various types of shoes/boots over the years.  Depending on the type of hike I’m not sure these shoes would be the best choice.  Hiking up trails where there are roots and the terrain can get a little rough, you would need a shoe that is stiffer and has good ankle support.  Ankle injuries are quite common amongst people that wear improper footwear when hiking in the hills/mountains where I live.

For myself, doing winter walking, I would prefer something that is also waterproof for those days when the trails or the sidewalks are a little wet.  Not good to have wet feet when hiking or doing long walks.

These sound like they would be a great choice for walking or running in drier weather and I’ll definitely be checking them out when the time arrises.

I am not too sure if they would be good for long walks. Based on my experience I would say yes but the only down side to the shoes with long walks is they won’t last long if used for looong walks daily. Their durability will depend on how often you go for the looong walks.

  7. Nice review on the Zigwild TR 5.0 Running Shoe. As a runner, and a former marathon runner, I know how important it is to find the correct shoes. I can also empathize with you for having to be on your feet all day. I did that as a furniture salesman, and was ready to quit due to the discomfort I suffered until I found a pair of sturdy, comfortable shoes. I have been thinking of buying a new pair of running/hiking shoes, and these Zigwild’s may just be what I need.

If you do end up getting a pair, let me know how you like them. Glad you enjoyed the article.

  8. Tania says:

Great shoe review thanks for that. I need to get some new running shoes I hope they sell them in women sizes. Maybe you could review a man and woman shoe on the same page nest time, just a thought. Thanks Tania

    1. Ray Rooney says:

ok thanks for visiting, I’ll see if I can do a review for both men & women shoes on the next page.
